Your Role as Optician:

Strong communication and customer service skills are essential for this position. We will be asking you to greet and advise patients who have received a recommendation for eyewear and spectacle lenses from the optometrist, Dr. Michael Murphy. 

Responsibilities:

• Advise patients about spectacle lens technology;

• Provide superior customer service and patient care; 

• Use the appointment scheduling and record search software, patient records, and other tools at your disposal to record accurate and clear notes about the patient encounter; 

• Ensure the quality and accuracy of all completed eyewear and complete electronic patient records; 

• Maintain acceptable performance according to professional standards; 

• Manage frame inventory within budget guidelines;

• Stay current and adapt to changes in protocols, procedures and the products and services offered; 

• Be an ambassador for our practice in the community; 

• Perform any other tasks requested by the doctor or your coworkers; 

• Participate in special projects as needed;

• Perform the required tests during eye exam as needed.

Required Skills:

 • Excellent communication skills, especially verbal, and for patient support; 

• Professionalism and active listening; 

• Excellent presentation skills and ability to adapt to different personalities in order to respond well to patients; 

• A patience demeanor, ease of approach and calm behavior; 

• Ability to manage patients' expectations and concerns; 

• Can-Do personality; sense of organization and thoroughness; 

• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment; 

• Willing to work in a team and use a collaborative approach to daily challenges;

 • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and/or coach other team member on how to dispense and perform simple repairs; 

• Sense of initiative and effectiveness; 

• Comfortable in working with computers, ability to learn new software and technologies; 

• Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite; 

• Comfortable working closely with patients.

Training and \Work Experience:

  • Two years hands-on experience in an eyecare optical environment. 

Job Details: 

Saint Stephen Eyecare offers the possibility of a relocation bonus to this great work environment!

This is a full-time position. We offer competitive compensation as well as bonuses. Candidates must be willing to relocate and ready to work approximately 37 hours a week, Workdays are weekdays and early evenings on a flexible schedule.
